Ten Years of Hof – Cultural and Conference Center

A little more than ten years ago our culture center Hof was formally opened. I was there for the opening concert and since then I’ve been there for many more. For a while I had a contract with Hof to document various events happening there and then later on I’ve worked closely with SinfoniaNord and Atli Örvarsson, recently many film and television soundtracks have been recorded at Hof. Some of the highlights are a visit from Jethro Tull frontman Ian Anderson and his band, Eivør with Sinfóníuhljómsveit Norðurlands, Nýdönsk, Emilíana Torrini, Ásgeir Trausti, Dimma, Agent Fresco, Karlakór Akureyrar Geysir, Pálmi …

Ten Years at Græni hatturinn

In Akureyri we have one of the greatest concert venues in Iceland, Græni hatturinn. The music is soft and warm jazz inspired versions of traditionals and known Icelandic songs. Performing with Fanney on the album are Tómas R. Einarsson, Anna Gréta Sigurðardóttir, Mikael Máni Ásmundsson, Óskar Kjartansson & Birgir Steinn Theodorsson. We had to try a couple of times to get …

Iceland Airwaves 2015

Last week was one of my favourite weeks of the year, the week of Iceland Airwaves. This year we had some interesting foreign visitors, such as Father John Misty, Perfume Genius, Ariel Pink and of course some of my local favourites, Agent Fresco, Æla, Grísalappalísa and many more. I saw many shows, both on the ambitious off-venue schedule and of course on the festival itself. Here are some of my best shots from the festival.
