Kjass album cover

A while ago I photographed musician and singer Fanney Kristjáns Snjólaugardóttir for an album cover for her project Kjass. The name of the album is Rætur, meaning roots, indicating the inspiration for the album which is traditional icelandic music and the culture of singing where she grew up in the area around Mývatn. The music is soft and warm jazz inspired versions of traditionals and known Icelandic songs. Performing with Fanney on the album are Tómas R. Einarsson, Anna Gréta Sigurðardóttir, Mikael Máni Ásmundsson, Óskar Kjartansson & Birgir Steinn Theodorsson. We had to try a couple of times to get …

Faces of Akureyri

Next saturday I will open an exhibition with portraits of the people of my home town Akureyri. Last Monday I invited people to my studio with the ambition to collect portraits of various people from or living in Akureyri, a really fun and busy day where I took over 3.000 photos of 130 different people. The exhibition will be open on Saturday from 14:00 – 17:00 at my office at Ráðhústorg 7, Akureyri. The exhibition is part of Akureyrarvaka cultural night here in Akureyri. I want to thank all the people who came for a visit, this exhibition is about …

Iceland Airwaves 2015

Last week was one of my favourite weeks of the year, the week of Iceland Airwaves. This year we had some interesting foreign visitors, such as Father John Misty, Perfume Genius, Ariel Pink and of course some of my local favourites, Agent Fresco, Æla, Grísalappalísa and many more. I saw many shows, both on the ambitious off-venue schedule and of course on the festival itself. Here are some of my best shots from the festival.

Exhibition in Akureyri – Mother

Mother is a whole new exhibition by me and my friend Magnus Andersen at Akureyri Town Festival 2015. The exhibition was created around the theme of the 2015 festival, daughter, mother and grandmother, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of women’s voting rights in Iceland. The exhibition shows lives of 12 mothers and their children in two places, Akureyri and London. The mothers come from various backgrounds, are of all ages and live in different situations. One is a priest, other a photographer who brings her child with her wherever she goes, and yet another had her first child when she …

New Website

Thanks to a lot of help from a lot of friends my new website is up and running. First drafts of this site were made more than a half year ago and finally the step was taken to publish it online. It’s more focused on music than my previous portfolio and is organized quiet differently. One of the exciting things is to have the option to update it more frequently, using the News menu to publish new work. The featured image in this post is taken during a clear november night in Seyðisfjörður, in 2013.
